Welcome To The Official CPEP Site of Grant Wilcox

Throughout my entire 2016-2017 academic school year at Penn State, I will be participating in what is commonly known as Senior Thesis. This year long project will be one of the biggest accomplishments that comes with obtaining my five year professional degree Bachelor of Architectural Engineering. It involves obtaining the drawings and specifications of a real building under construction and performing numerous investigations such as several technical analyses, a proposal for design improvements, and a presentation to a faculty jury to defend my research.

The project that I will be further examining is Penn State's Earle Hall project. Located in State College, PA; this 95,737 square foot, six story, college dormitory is designed to accommodate incoming Penn State freshman.

I hope to use this Senior Thesis project as a platform to effectively apply the knowledge and skills I have learned from the past 4 years in the Architectural Engineering program. I am also looking to use the research opportunities and interaction with construction professionals to learn and discover new things. My goal will be for this project to become a stepping stone for me as I look to make the transition into the construction industry following the project’s completion and my graduation.

Introduction to Architectural Engineering Senior Thesis

A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO MADE THIS POSSIBLE!

What is CPEP?

The Capstone Project Electronic Portfolio (CPEP) is a web‐based project and information center. It contains material produced for a year‐long Senior Thesis class. Its purpose, in addition to providing central storage of individual assignments, is to foster communication and collaboration between student, faculty consultant, course instructors, and industry consultants. This website is dedicated to the research and analysis conducted via guidelines provided by the Department of Architectural Engineering. For an explanation of this capstone design course and its requirements click here.
